Hobart house tour - for Engineers

We are house sitting in Hobart Tasmania for a couple of weeks. Tasmanians have largely embraced modern architecture, and you find few pastiche-style houses. I've put together this video focusing on the architecture and construction of the house where we are staying for those who might be interested.

    1. There are two bedrooms on the main floor. I didn't show the hosts room for reasons of privacy. The ground floor is a bit strange. There appears to be living space down there - the entrance door and windows. But I found a real estate listing that doesn't mention any living space down there and it's not connected to the upper floor at all.

  4. Most homes here seem to have a great view, as the city is built on hillsides. The grades remind us of those in San Francisco, and Craig thinks one city street we drove up may be close to 25%. Good training!

  5. Some aspects of this house are very reminiscent of older South African houses- some aspects like vented walls, brick/ masonry construction, no heat/ ac, outside pipes etc in new houses too. The double story style is not typical of most of South Africa though.
