Our San Juan experiences so far

- no pictures yet, Britt, as the internet is so slow that even Craig can't get them uploaded.
- the weather is perfect! Bright blue skies, sunny, 50's to 60 overnight, 70's daytime with no humidity. The locals tell us this is the norm, and that September will be even better, as it's warmer.
- we have seen lots of young deer, rabbits, seals and sea lions today, gorgeous views of islands, evergreens, rocky sea shores, touring cyclists, and hills.

- our forest cabin is pretty rustic, and maybe this is what is called 'glamping'. But there's lots of hot water in the Shower Common, and next to this, there is a washer! The most amazing thing to me, is the absence of bugs. They have screens in the windows, but we have kept the door open all evening, and have only seen an occasional bee that wants our food.
- if you think we have hills at home in CT, you haven't seen the hills here. I'm very pleased to have made it up Mt. Constitution on Saturday. A longer Bash Bish maybe. Sea level to 2400' over 5.5 miles. I'm definitely building muscle.
- Saturday we roasted marshmallows, I think the first time for me. Last night, we finished the bag cold, and smeared fudge on!
- am happy we stay on Orcas, as it's much less busy than San Juan. The inter island ferries are free, and we today went to Lopez Island, the flattest of the islands. It's very scenic, with more farm country, and the Shark Reef Sanctuary, from where you can view seals at play, and the sea lions lying around, the latter admittedly at a distance. In another tiny park, I saw the funkiest outhouse I have ever seen, maintained, and quite clearly decorated, by volunteers. Too bad about the picture problem right now, as I took my first ever inside picture of an outhouse.
- we have 2 more days here, and then it's off to Victoria, BC, where we also will visit with Bev & Chris!
